What is a chronic wound?

In simple terms, a chronic or non-healing wound is an injury that shows no significant healing progress within thirty days. Often they are the result of another illness, injury or condition that limits your body’s ability to heal. These include things like diabetes, vascular insufficiency, crush injuries and certain types of bacterial infections.

Our treatments and services

Our wound doctors work closely with your personal care physician to assess your symptoms, determine the underlying cause of your non-healing wound, and create a wound management treatment plan tailored to your needs. Many of our treatments are covered by Medicare and Medicaid, Healthcare Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans, and other private insurance plans.

Our treatments include:

  • Advanced topical wound care dressings
  • Diabetic education
  • HBOT
  • Infectious disease management
  • Laboratory evaluation
  • Nutritional evaluation
  • Pain management
  • Vascular evaluation

If you require another service or treatment, our wound specialists will work diligently to ensure you receive the exceptional care you deserve.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a noninvasive treatment which can work to both strengthen your immune system and temporarily improve blood oxygenation. During HBOT, you will sit inside one of our hyperbaric chambers and breathe in pressurized, high-oxygen-content air. This gives your body extra help to heal wounds and fight infections, and is sometimes the only treatment you need to recover. It can also be used to increase the effectiveness of other treatments.
